This is something you hear said quite a lot, but just how true is it? As with most things if you pay a bit more it's often better, but this really isn't a hard and fast rule. Arrrrrrr, there be bargains out there!
Most people know about and use the 'drugstore' brands, but not as many have checked out the local supermarket. Beauty and cosmetics are growing sections in most stores with many supermarkets having their own brands. I'm a Tesco gal, so this is the one I know best. Their Vivo range is silly cheap and much higher quality than you would expect. It reminds me a lot of MUA in this way and I really recommend you give it a go. These are pearl eyeshadows from Vivo in Aqua Marine and Electric Purple.
These shadows cost £1 each! That's cheap enough to buy one and use it once to match an outfit, and not loose sleep! There are loads of shadows to choose from too which make them a great choice to buy when you want to try out a new shade.....or buy loads of new things and not feel guilty :P
Alongside their own brands, the supermarkets very often run special offers like 3 for 2 on other well known brands like Barry M, Rimmel, Bourjois and more. The shelves and the websites are really worth checking out!
My other 'top tip' is to become a ruthless internet detective! Just because one site says something is £8 doesn't mean you can't get it for £5 somewhere else.
Or there's L'OrĂ©al Paris Resist & Shine Titanium Nail Polish, £6.19 on the Boots website, but £1.25 on Fragrance Direct!
The drawback with the cheaper sites is that they rarely have the brand new products, but if you're looking for 'a black mascara' or something like that, it can really be worth having a google about. On top of these cheaper prices you can often find money off or free delivery codes, just type into google 'fragrance direct discount codes' or whichever site you want to use and you will be surprised at what you can find.
So, next time you're about to just click 'buy' on a website, have a look around other places first, you could save some money!
Here are a couple of sites to have a look at, there's loads more to discover out there though. It's worth checking quite often as they tend to restock more than normal.
Have you checked my discount codes post too?
